Shangli Ancient Town Introduction

Shangli Ancient Town, only 10 kilometers away from Bifengxia Panda Base and 27 kilometers away from Ya'an City, was rated as a "Famous Historical and Cultural Town" by Sichuan Province in 1982, which is not only the important gateway for Linqiong Ancient Road of South Silk Route into Ya'an and the important pass for Sichuan brick tea on Tang-Tibet Ancient Road, but also the site where Tea-Horse Department is located. In 1935, Red Fourth Army passed by Shangli Ancient Town on the Long March and was stationed here for up to half a year, leaving tens of stone curving slogans in the town which are all valuable revolutionary historical relics.

Shangli Ancient Town

In the town lying near mountains and by rivers, there are simple and unsophisticated buildings in various styles rising high and low, flagstone paved roads, wooden frame houses as well as many stilted buildings in the style of the Ming and Qing Dynasty which are still well preserved currently. From an overlooking view, the town is just like an ancient picture scroll; from a view inside, it offers us a feeling of going backward in time. Currently, it is still a shooting location for films and television programs. On June 5, 2013, the town was listed as a National AAA Tourist Attraction.
