Jiange County

Jiange County belongs to Guangyuan City, which is located in the northern edge of the Sichuan Basin at the junction of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces. It has a population of 750,000 with an area of 3,204 square kilometers. Most of the land is covered by low mountainous area that accounts for 50.34% of the total area. With a humid subtropical monsoon climate, Jiange embraces four distinct seasons and a mild climate.

Jiange County is abundant in tourism resources, one of the most prominent of which is Jianmen Ancient-Sichuan Road, the first batch of national key scenic spot. It is one of the most well reserved ancient roads along ancient Jinniu Road and is said to be rivalled with European Roman Avenue by experts. Thus, Jianmen Ancient-Sichuan Road was listed on the national key cultural relics protection list. The scenic area was awarded the titles "National Key Scenic Spot", "National Forest Park", and "National Natural and Cultural Heritage". Ancient battlefields of The Three Kingdoms, Jianmen Pass and Cypress Trees Corridor are also historical and cultural heritages of Jianmen Ancient-Sichuan Road.

Jianmen Pass includes a series of scenic spots such as Jianmen Fortification Tower which has a height of over 150 meters, a length of 500 meters and a width of 100 meters. Because of the extremely steep terrain, in ancient time, no single enemy was able to get through it as long as it was guarded.

Jiange County is famous for its very ancient cypress trees. The Cypress Trees Corridor is about 50 km long with nearly 8,000 trees on both sides, which are known as "Zhang Fei Cypress" for they were planted for the call of General Zhang Fei during the Three Kingdom Period. According to the historical data and folklore, the plantation of these cypresses can be dated back to the Qin Dynasty. As the road being renovated, it has been filled with trees both naturally grow and artificially planted, which gradually formed hundreds of miles of the boulevard. The trees receive titles of "fossil woods" "the essence of Jianmen Ancient-Sichuan Road", "treasure" of China" "the Green Great Wall", "unrivalled wonder" and "world cultural heritage" from domestic and overseas scientists and experts.
