Luhuo County

Luhuo County is located in the southeast margin of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau, north-central of Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture; on the north is Seda County, while on the northeast it is adjacent to Aba Prefecture. It lies 290 km away from Kangding, and 657 km from Chengdu. Luhuo County is located in the interlacing area of the West-Sichuan Plateau and the mountainous region. The terrain of it is high in the northwest while low in the southeast and the run of the mountains and rivers are mainly from northwest to southeast, with an average elevation of 3860 meters. It belongs to the continental monsoon plateau climate, with an annual average temperature of 7.4 ℃.

Luhuo County is a typical Tibetan settlement, and is the hub of the ancient tea horse road. With the county as the center, in the surrounding area with a radius within 2 hours of driving, there are very rich tourism resources. Within the territory, dense forest, vast grassland, graceful snow mountain and changeable valley are all what have featured the area.

Unique natural scenery there includes the beautiful and vast Zongta Seven Color Prairie, the quiet and peaceful Kasa Lake and the one-of-a-kind Kanianggou with picturesque autumn scenery. Among the many cultural relics are the Kaniang Village Paleoanthropological Sites, the mysterious ancient sarcophagus burial area filling site, and among red army sites, etc. Tibetan Buddhism culture is profound here, with monasteries of the four sects monastery standing within their respective jurisdictions, so the Buddhist culture has a long history, especially the Shouling Monastery, famous for the Gelu Sect of the Tibetan Buddhism, is one of the "Thirteen Monasteries of Ho’er". The monastery of Shouling has a long history and rich reserves of cultural relics. The Wangguo Festival, the Luguo Singing Festival, Randeng Festival, Zongta Horse Racing Festival and all the other folks cultural celebrations are all held every year, attracting tourists at home and abroad.

From the City of Chengdu to Luhuo County, there is a long-distance coach every day starting off from Xin’nanmen Bus Station. Usually, the coach departs at 10:00 and arrives at the destination at nightfall.
