Meishan

Meishan City is located in southwest of the Chengdu Plain, 78 kilometers away from Chengdu, which is in the middle of Chengdu-Leshan golden tourist corridor. It is known as the hometown of Su Dongpo, the "first literati through ages". Most of the territory is hilly areas and 500-800m above sea level. The highest altitude is 3522 meters, while the minimum is 335 meters.

Meishan has a long history and many cultural relics. Qingshen County is the birthplace of the first generation of the king of Shu, Can Cong. The Taoism culture of Mount Wawu is long-standing and well established. Besides, the Great Buddha of Niyjiao Village of Renshou County is also an example of the rich and colorful cultural heritage of the Meishan.

Three-Su Memorial Temple is situated in the center of Meishan city, which is former residence of three famous litterateurs of Northern Song Dynasty Su Xun, Su Shi and Su Zhe. It is transformed ancestral hall in Ming Dynasty to show people’s worship to the three of them. Now, it covers an area of 104 acres of classical gardens with bamboos, ponds, pavilion and plaques couplets of primitive simplicity and elegance. Three-Su Memorial Temple hall is the most abundant of the whole nation that displays three Su’s literature and cultural relics to its full extent.

The national forest park of Mount Wawu, 180 kilometers away from Chengdu, covers an area of 1.04 million mus. Mount Wawu is a famous mountains of Chinese history and culture, also one of the birthplace of Taoism and the nation's largest national forest park. The most attractive scenic spot of Mount Wawu is the platform on the peak whose altitude is 2830 meters and area is 11 square kilometers. Overlooking from another mountain nearby, for example, Mount Emei, it is more like a divine platform created by God. Mount Wawu is known as the "kingdom of azaleas” with 600000 acres and more than 40 varieties of natural rhododendron. 17 species of rhododendron in Britain dictionaries are named after WaWu. The best months to appreciate the beautiful flower are from April to June each year, while all kinds of rhododendron are opening, from the hillside to the top of the mountain, making it an absolute wonderland.
