Mianyang

Mianyang City, located in the northwest of Sichuan Basin, is the second largest city in Sichuan province. It is bordered by Qingchuan county, Jiange county and Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. Mianyang is home to many ethnic groups. Besides Han people, Mianyang hosts a population of 150,000 of 40 ethnic groups, such as Qiang, Hui and Tibetan. The Qiang Autonomous county of Beichuan is the only Qiang autonomous county in China.

Mianyang

Mianyang enjoys a pleasant climate and fertile lands. There are 78 national key protected wildlife on level one and level two, such as giant panda, golden monkey, takin, ailurus fulgens, and Asian black bear. Being a historic city and the vital joint on the international tour route of Shudao culture of the Three Kingdoms period, Mianyang has nurtured a unique Bashu culture. Since ancient times, literati gathered here and people of talent kept coming forward in large numbers. Many historic and cultural relics and intangible cultural heritages have become a splendid cultural landscape in Mianyang. There are profound and abundant historical traditional culture, such as Li Bai culture, the culture of Shu in Three Kingdoms period and the culture of Dayu; ethnic culture of distinct features such as Qiang culture and Baima Tibetan culture; the culture of gratitude and endeavor bred in earthquake relief work and post-disaster construction; and also the time-honored popular cultural activities of Wenchang Miaohui and Caiqiao (step on the bridge) in Jushui.

Mianyang 

If you head to Jiuzhaigou Valley by East Line, you must go through Mianyang, then either via Jiangyou County or Beichuan County to Pingwu County and finally get to the destination. There are lots of beautiful sceneries along the road, dizzying your eyes. The Qiang autonomous county of Beichuan is the birthplace of Dayu who is an ancient hero for his contribution to prevent floods and the founder of Xia dynasty. Here Han, Qiang and Tibetan people live together. Qiangpian Qiang village, inhabited by Qiang people, preserves a relatively intense Qiang culture. Qiang people do not have their written language. They use Qiang language and believe in Tibetan Buddhism. The ancient Qiang people of Beichuan are nomadic who relied primarily on sheep raising. Due to the crucial role of sheep in social and economic life, the sheep worshipping gradually formed among Qiang people of Beichuan. Sacrificing sheep to the mountain is a very important ceremony for ancient Qiang people. In some region lived by Qiang people, they worshiped deities of sheep body and human face. They regarded sheep as their ancestor. Qiang people are so good at dancing and singing that they perform dance and sing songs to liven up the spirits on occasion of festivals, sacrifice rites and wedding and funeral ceremonies.

An County is a close neighbor of Beichuan. The old but modern An County is inundated with vigor and vitality. The long rape flowers corridor in An County is well-known for the bloom of a vast rape flowers. Every March, rape flowers come out between the houses of white walls and grey roof tiles. Entering into the field, you would have your eyes filled with golden color. Every village forms scenery and every place takes on a look of spring. In An County, natural resources such as primitive forest, hot springs, lakes, stone forest and karst caves, and the rich and profound historical culture complement each other.

Mianyang 

Jiangyou, located 40 kilometers northeast of Mianyang, is the hometown of Li Bai, the great poet in China. Jiangyou is home to many outstanding talents and hosts splendid cultural landscape, including former residence of Li Bai and Memorial Hall for Li Bai, and the cultural long corridor centered on the former residence of Li Bai who is a great poet in Tang dynasty and is hailed as “poetic genius”. 25 kilometers north of Jiangyou is what has been praised in Li Bai’s poem------ Douchui Mountain which is a vital part of Jianmenshudao National Resort and the famous Danxia landscape of Sichuan province. Douchui Mountain hosts gorgeous natural landscape, gathers the spirit of heaven and earth, breeds ancient woods and peculiar plants, dizzying your eyes in every way.
