Wenchuan County

Wenchuan County, located in southeast of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, covers a total area of 4,084 square kilometers. It is 146 kilometers from Chengdu in the south and 202 kilometers from prefectural capital of Ma'erkang in the north. It enjoys a distinct regional advantage and convenient transportation. It is in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau humid subarctic climate zone, with the annual average temperature being 13.5℃ and the annual precipitation being 500mm.

Wenchuan County

Wenchuan is the gateway and traffic hinge of Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture of Aba. Before getting to the World Natural Heritages, Wolong Nature Reserve, Jiuzhaigou Valley, Huanglong Valley, Siguniang Mountain and beautiful prairie, you have to pass Wenchuan first. Wenchuan is a Tibetan and Qiang settlement that is closest to metropolis. Having long been known as "the hometown of Dayu, giant panda homeland and the home of Qiang embroidery", Wenchuan is one of the four largest Qiang settlements in China, and the eco experience zone of Qiang culture in China. It is also known worldwide for the "5.12" great Wenchuan earthquake.

Wenchuan County

After the earthquake, Wenchuan County has successfully established tourist attractions including four national AAAA Level tourist Resorts: Wenchuan Sanjiang (the Three Parallel Rivers) Ecologic Area, Wenchuan Shuimo Ancient Town, Wenchuan Yingxiu 5.12 Earthquake Memorial Site and Wenchuan Dayu culture tourism area. Experiencing a transformation from devastated area to tourist resort, from homeland to garden, from farmers to residents, present Wenchuan thrives more vigorously and remains as beautiful as it was.

Wenchuan County

Wolong National Nature Reserve, located on the southeast side of Qionglai Mountain Range in Wenchuan County, covers an area of 200,000 hectares. It is the earliest national all-around nature reserve that works primarily to protect the rare wild animals like giant pandas, the Wolong Shenshuping Panda Base in Gengda Village near Wolong Town is a new panda base after the one in Wolong damaged during the earthquake in 2008.
