Xiaojin County

Xiaojin County is located in the Northwest of Sichuan Province, on the northern tip of Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, adjacent to Danba County, Baoxing County, as well as Ma'erkang City. Its terrain is high in the northeast and low in the southwest, and it lies 255 km away from Chengdu. Xiaojin County covers an area of 5571 square kilometer. Within its territory, more than 82,000 people of different ethnic groups, such as Tibetan, Qiang, Hui, Han and so on. Among them, Tibetans make up 52% of the total population, while Han, Hui, Qiang and other nationalities 48%, making it one of the major Jiarong Tibetan regions. The county belongs to the subtropical climate type, with cold winter and cool summer. All the year round the weather is dry, with low rainfall and drastic temperature changes. The four seasons are not distinct and the daily temperature difference is relatively large, sometimes more than 20 ℃. The Mt.Siguniang in the east is as high as 6250 meters, while the valley is below 3000 meters.

Xiaojin County

Xiaojin County enjoys a long history. Within its territory, the Neolithic site of human activity, which could be traced back to five and six thousand years ago, has been discovered. At the end of the Ming Dynasty, hereditary headmen have been appointed respectively at the Large and Small Jinchuan River Basins. The Qing Dynasty has inherited Ming's headmen system and headmen have also been appointed at the Small Jinchuan River Basin. In the year 1749 and 1766, Empire Qianlong has twice dispatched troops to the two Jinchuan River Basins. After the war, he has started the bureaucratization of the native officers around the basin areas; immigration was sent and garrison was designated. In June 1935, Mao Zedong led the First-Front of the Red Army in climbing over the first snow mountain here—Mt.Jiajin, before they entered Xiaojin to successfully meet the Fourth-Front of the Red Army, where the famous Lianghekou Meeting was held. Afterwards, the Red Army continued climbing over Mengbi Mountain and left Xiaojin. Therefore, Xiaojin has now become a nationally famous red cultural tourism resort.

Xiaojin County

The World Natural Heritage Mt.Siguniang is located within the county territory of Siguniangshan Town, only 200 km away from Chengdu. It is the snow mountain scenic resort in China, which has the shortest distance from a provincial capital, combining tourism, mountain climbing, exploration, traversing, and leisure and so on. The scenic area consists of four parts: Siguniang Mountain, Shuangqiao Valley, Changping Valley and Haizi Valley, covering an area of 450 square kilometers. The major peak has an elevation of 6250 meters, which has been given the name of "the Oriental Holy Mountain" by tourists at home and abroad, thanks to its magical legendary and pure temperament, as well as another name:"the Oriental Alps". In the year 1996, it has been ranked among the National-level Nature Reserves; in 2001, it has been rated as the "4A"-Band National Scenic Area, while in July 2006, it has been included in the "World Natural Heritage List".
