Sichuan Leisure

Sichuan Opera: Sichuan Opera has been approved by the State Council as one of the first batch of State-level Intangible Cultural Heritages. It has a long history and has been passed down from generations. It has already become the most representative business card of Sichuan. To watch Sichuan Opera, we recommend Shufengyayun Theater, Jinjiang Theatre, Sichuan Opera Theatre, etc. Among them the Jinjiang Theatre is with a history of one hundred years, and is also known as Chengdu Sichuan Opera Art Center, where every Saturday a Sichuan Opera Zhezi Performance is held, while in the evening of weekdays Sichuan Opera unique skills, folk art forms, acrobatics etc are performed. In Jinli and Kuanzhai Alley where tourists are gathered, there are also a complete set of services especially for Sichuan-style tea and Sichuan Opera. In some classic traditional Sichuan food stores, such as Shunxing Old Tea House, Tangsong Cuisine Street of Chunxi Lane, they also have their own stages, which enable the tourists to enjoy Sichuan cuisine, while at the same time appreciate the art of Sichuan Opera.

Bars: Chengdu is a city that never sleeps. By nightfall, various bars also begin to bustle. When it comes to the bars in Chengdu, the most lively and oldest is the bar street along the Jiuyanqiao, and the nearby Taiping Bar Street is also not bad; slow rock bars at Lan Kwai Fong Bar Street boasts bars with distinguishing features, with each door full of fashionable young people, which gives a wrong impression that this were in Hong Kong; Yulin Life Plaza is also the concentration place of bars in Chengdu, because here around are mostly high-end residential areas. So in addition to the bars, here are also many famous gourmet restaurants attracting diners to come; the belt of bars in Jinli and Kuanzhai Alley is the product of tourism development in recent years, where tourists flock during the day and in the evening here is where young people come to relax their mood and is the best place to alleviate the pressure from work. In addition, foreigners in Chengdu often gather in the Beer Nest Food Bar opened by a Belgian named Dieter. Beer Nest regularly holds some kinds of learning exchange activities, attracting some foreigners working or studying in Chengdu, as well as some locals. Chengdu has also a local tavern, which used to be just a bar, but has now become the performing place for many Chinese and foreign bands on the tour.

Teahouses: some people say that Chengdu teahouses, together with bars and cafes in Paris and London, are regarded as the world's three biggest entertainment places. Indeed, the world tea culture originated in Mengding Mountain in Sichuan Province. Since ancient times, Sichuan has been home to good tea, so Sichuan people love tea. For Sichuan People, the teahouse is the leisure place for friends and relatives, the place of entertainment for Mahjong, also an important social place for businessmen. Across Sichuan there are many teahouses, among which only in Chengdu, where are more than 10,000 tea houses of various sizes. Tea has been part of the Sichuan people's lives, embodying the Sichuan people’s attitude of "Slow Life", "Leisure" and "Enjoy the life". Heming Teahouse in the People's Park has nearly hundred years’ history, one of the oldest teahouses with vitality in Chengdu. Zhuyeqing’s Luntao Teahouse, works of the design master Alan Chan, has focused more on the tea space building and Zen Tea Culture experience; Yuelai Teahouse inside Jinjiang Theater is the most precious: located in downtown, only a door in between, yet like crossing the moment back to the feeling of old Chengdu teahouse. A cup of tea in the theatre, enjoying Sichuan Opera performance is a good experience. In addition to relatively popular Sichuan Opera performances, other part of the teahouse is intent for Sichuan Dulcimer, Storytelling, Qingyin, Jingqianban and other folk art forms. Here people can drink tea in the teahouse, while enjoying the folk arts programs with rich local characteristics. Daciyayun Teahouse near Daci Temple is among such kind.

Chengdu, a city famous for its leisure of life, is home to the most KTV around the country. KTV has become a subsequent dinner supplement program.
